On the occasion of Monti Fest 2023, ICYM Milagres got indulged in the Novem Jevan program on September 17, 2023 at the Milagres English Medium School. This occasion marked the significance of the feast and aimed at strengthening the bond between the ICYM members for the upcoming days to come.
It started by invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song followed by welcoming the gathering by Ashwin D’Silva, President ICYM Milagres. The guests were florally welcomed by our members. We had with us Mr. Melwyn Sequiera, Vice President of Parish Council, Prema Lewis, Coordinator of Pastoral Commissions, ICYM Animators Mr. Godfrey Lewis and Mrs. Ann Monis. We then had remarks from our Parish priests Fr Valerian Mendonca, Fr Joy Andrade and Fr Nithesh D’Souza about the activities that ICYM Milagres were a part of and the service offered to the parish by us.
No organisation can succeed without proper guidance and ICYM Milagres isn’t any different. We have had the best animators during the past tenure. We felt immensely pleased to honour them for their support and motivation. We then had a felicitation program for Mr. Melwyn Sequiera and Mrs. Merlyn Martis who had given their all in the upliftment of our unit in the past years. Fiona Furtado briefly introduced the ex-animators to the audience. The animators then shared their experience with us and wished us luck for the upcoming events and activities. We also had remarks from the former ICYM Milagres President Jestan Fernandes.
Valonia and Ann took charge of the event and conducted a few spot games. We were pleased to be accompanied by the Udupi diocesan ICYM President Ashley Dsouza and other central council members in our celebrations. Former presidents of ICYM Milagres – Clinton D’Silva, Jestan Fernandes, Melroy Almeida and Rohan D’Souza were also present.
The final event, the spotlight event that the gathering was most waiting for, the Novem Jevan. Fr Nithesh D’Souza, Superior of Pilar Seminary, blessed the food. The lunch party went on smoothly with a variety of dishes prepared by the members of ICYM Milagres and served with the utmost authenticity and the feedback was really impressive.
The host of the afternoon was Adlin Fernandes, and Aniya Menezes delivered the vote of thanks.
