Maundy Thursday Celebration at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur – 2025

The Maundy Thursday service was held at Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur on March 28, Thursday at 6:30 PM with solemnity. The liturgical celebration was presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop Udupi Diocese.

Concelebrants with the Bishop were, Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Fr. Stephan D’Souza Chancellor of diocese, Fr. Pradeep Cardoza, Rev. Fr.Dr. Jencil Alva, Fr. Ronson D’Souza, and Fr. Manoj Furtado.

The homily was delivered by Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, who reflected on the love, service, and the institution of the Holy Eucharist and Priesthood, challenging the faithful to lead lives of compassion and selfless service.

The Holy Eucharist began with a solemn entrance procession and reflection on the Last Supper. The washing of the feet was a highlighted aspect of the service that represents the humility and service of Christ. The Bishop performed the ritual, which represents Jesus’s washing of his disciple’s feet.

Once the Eucharistic celebration had been completed, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament was conducted by Rev Fr. Dr. Jencil Alva inviting faithful into an opportunity for prayer and reflection on the Passion of Christ.

The ceremony was well attended by parishioners, creating a atmosphere of reverence, devotion and spiritual reflectiveness of the Paschal Triduum.
