July 27th witnessed the Feast of Saint Anna and Jochim, the grandparents of Jesus, and thus the Family commission of Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur celebrated with all the elderly members of the parish who also carried over the liturgy at the 8:00 AM mass. Post mass a short gathering was called and graced by the presence of Parish Priest Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Asst. Parish Priest Fr. Pradeep Cardoza, visiting Priest Fr. Anthony Fernandes, Vice president of the Parish Council Mr Melwyn Sequeira, Secretary Eugine Rebello, 18 commission Co Ordinator Mrs Prema Lewis and the Coordinator for Family commission Mr Reginald Lewis.
Around 100 of the elderly were present in this gathering with the host Mr Stany Rodrigues. Mr Reginald Lewis welcomed the gathering followed by Mrs. Joyce Pinto and Mr Nery Cornelio sharing their insights about the significance of the Grandparents day. Mrs Joyce spoke on how the grandparents might be ‘Old in age but young in spirits’ and also on the importance of time to be spent with children and grandchildren. Mr Nery Cornelio spoke about how rooted the grandparents are in their life and experience and also on the way we celebrate all our occasions of joy with grandparents. Parish Priest Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves also elaborated on the essence of Grandparents in our society and Parish and also on passing the spirit of prayer onto their next generation. Thus the event ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs Shalini Dsouza followed by breakfast to all present.
