The Good Friday service was conducted with great solemnity and spirituality at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur, beginning at 4:00 PM. The service was celebrated by Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese, as the chief celebrant. Concelebrating with him were Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Fr. Pradeep Cardoza, and Fr. Ronson Dsouza, making the liturgy deeply meaningful and spiritually enriching for all in attendance.
We were also blessed to have with us Fr. Alberto Nepoletano from Italy, the secretary of Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal. We were also accompanied by Fr. Ivan Martis, the secretary of the Apostolic Nuncio to Bolivia.
Fr. Pradeep Cardoza preached a sermon which moved the gathering with his reflection on the Seven Last Words as well as the Five Wounds of Jesus Christ, and the theme of forgiveness which is at the heart of the whole experience of the Passion and Death of Christ.
Following the sermon, the service continued with solemn prayers, the veneration of the Holy Cross and Holy Communion which allowed the faithful to be able to participate in the great mystery of the sacrifice of Christ.
The solemn service was filled with deep reflection, devotion and togetherness bringing the faithful together to commemorate the Passion and Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
