On the morning of 25th May 2025, a solemn and grace-filled Farewell Mass was celebrated at 8:00 AM in honor of Rev Fr Dr Jencil Alva, marking the conclusion of his dedicated pastoral ministry of seven months in the parish. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev Fr Dr Jencil Alva himself, joined at the altar by Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves and Fr Pradeep Cardoza.
In his homily, Rev Fr Dr Jencil offered a deep and moving reflection on the day’s readings, drawing inspiration from Jesus’ farewell speech to His disciples. He invited the faithful to live by the guiding light of the Holy Spirit, urging everyone to remain steadfast in faith, love, and community. His words resonated with the spirit of gratitude and gentle encouragement, leaving a lasting impression on the congregation.
Following the Eucharist, a farewell program was held to express heartfelt thanks and appreciation. Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves spoke warmly about the contributions of Rev Fr Dr Jencil Alva, highlighting his scholarly depth, spiritual leadership, and compassionate engagement with the parish community during his time of service. He also acknowledged and appreciated Sr Wilma DSA, who concluded three years of devoted and impactful service to the parish, especially in the areas of pastoral care and social outreach.
As part of the farewell program, both Rev Fr Dr Jencil Alva and Sr Wilma DSA delivered touching thank you speeches, expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the parishioners, clergy, religious, and all those who supported them throughout their time of ministry. Their words were filled with emotion, sincerity, and appreciation for the love, prayers, and cooperation they received from the community.
The farewell celebration was not just a moment of parting but a meaningful gathering of thanksgiving and shared joy, affirming the lasting bonds of faith and service formed within the parish community.
