Report by: Daniel Rodrigues, Secretary ICYM Milagres

The Yuva Samagam 2024 organised by ICYM Kallianpur Deanery and hosted by ICYM Milagres, on July 21st was an enriching experience at the Milagres Tri-Centenary Hall, Kallianpur, blending intellectual and cultural activities. The day began with an inauguration ceremony at the Milagres Tri-Centenary Hall, setting a formal and enthusiastic tone for the event. Following the inauguration, Fr Anil Fernandes delivered an insightful session on the history and evolution of artificial intelligence (A.I.). He emphasised A.I.’s growing importance and stated, “A.I. won’t take your job, but a person knowing A.I. will,” underscoring the need for A.I. skills in today’s job market.

Fr Anil Fernandes explained the differences between artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning. He also discussed large language models like GPT-4, highlighting their versatility and ethical considerations. To help participants effectively use A.I., he introduced a six-tip prompt checklist: define the task, specify the content, provide examples, indicate persona, define the format, and set the tone. These tips are invaluable for anyone working with A.I., ensuring productive and relevant interactions with the system.

The holy eucharist was celebrated by Rev. Fr Pradeep Cardoza who delivered the homily on shepherd and sheep. In his homily he encouraged youth to take up the example of Jesus and be a leader and lead an exemplary life.

The afternoon was filled with vibrant cultural activities, including traditional and contemporary dance and singing performances. Participants showcased the community’s rich cultural heritage, captivating the audience with talent and creativity. The performances ranged from classical pieces to modern hits, reflecting the diversity and artistic prowess of the participants.

Yuva Samagam successfully combined intellectual growth with cultural celebration, leaving attendees with a deeper understanding of A.I. and a renewed appreciation for the arts. The event was a testament to the organisers’ efforts to create a holistic experience that celebrated both knowledge and culture, making it a memorable day for all involved. Rev. Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, Fr Sunil D’Silva, Rev.
