The Diocese of Udupi achieved resounding success with the vibrant celebration of the ICYM Diocesan Youth Convention – Bloom 2023, held on September 24th at the Millennium Hall of Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur. The convention was a dynamic blend of insightful talks, cultural competitions, and spiritual enrichment.
The convention commenced with an enlightening talk by Mr. Walter Nandalike, a respected entrepreneur and the visionary founder of Daijiworld Media. He addressed the gathering on the topic ‘The Field of Politics and Media.’ Following this, Rev Fr Joachim – OFM. Cap, delivered a thought-provoking discourse on ‘The Role of Youth in Changing Indian Situations.’ The morning session concluded with a spiritually enriching Eucharistic celebration.
After a delightful lunch, a variety of inter-deanery cultural competitions unfolded, showcasing remarkable performances in singing, fashion shows, and dance. In preparation for the event, various online competitions were also organised, including reels, stand-up comedy, and poetry recitation, thereby introducing an exciting digital dimension to the convention.
In the online reels competition, the ICYM Unit of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur emerged victorious, securing the first prize. The ICYM Kallianpur deanery distinguished itself by clinching the overall championship of Bloom 2023, with outstanding achievements that earned them first place in singing, first place in dancing, and an admirable third place in the fashion show category.
The convention witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 450 ICYM members from 44 parishes, injecting a remarkable spirit of fellowship and unity. Their collective involvement and dedication played a pivotal role in making the Diocesan Youth Convention a monumental success.
