67th Independence Day Celebrations at Milagres Institutions
Kallianpur : Milagres Institutions celebrated 67th Independence Day of Union of India with parade, tricolor and patriotic songs. Prior to the Independence day celebrations, the solemn high mass celebrated the day of Assumption of Our Lady of Virgin Mary. Rev Fr. Austin Fernandes of Gulburga Diocese, an Milagrean was the main celebrant of the mass along with Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo and Rev Fr. Nelson of Pilar Fathers.
During the homily address Fr. Austin Fernandes said that the real independence is to prepare wishes of God almighty by way of truth. Truth shall give us relief,so we should know about the truth in our day to day life. Mother Mary followed the truth with obedience & faith.
After the mass Indian Union flag hoisting ceremony held at Cathedral Campus. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Rector of Milagres Cathedral was the chief guest. Parish Pastoral Parished acting officials were present. Milagres High School organized the programmes. Headmaster of the School Paul Lob, Staff of Milagres High School and Milagres Cathedral Parishioners were present during the flag hoisting ceremony.
Meanwhile St Joseph’s Higher Primary School also organized flag hoisting ceremony with beautifully and traditionally. Parents Teachers Associations officials of the school and others were participated during the occasion. Sr. Shusheela newly appointed Headmistress, Main co-ordinator Teacher Herald D’silva, school staff and pupils were present.
Meanwhile Milagres English School also celebrated 67th Independence Day with tricolor and patriotic song. The chief guest Rev Fr. Mahesh D’souza Headmaster of English School received by School brass band with parade near to the stage beautifully. The Union National Flag hoisted by Fr. Mahesh D’Souza. Large number of students with white dress and the faculty of the school were present. School Pupil Leader welcomed the gathered and Manisha Benny compered the programme.
Milagres PU College and Degree College also celebrated the 67th Independence Day with difference.Dr. Nery Cornelio Principal of Milagres College hoisted the tricolour flag. Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves Milagres Pu College Principal and NCC official of the college Merwin D'Souza also present during hoisting ceremony. Dr. Nery Cornelio remembered the freedom fighters and Dr. Balasaheb Ambedkar. He also said that in spite of there being several communities in this country and speaking a variety of languages, the citizens are Indians first. He said many have sacrificed their lives to free this country from the British and hence no one should forget the freedom-fighters.Earlier Dr. Nery Cornelio and guests of honour guarded the NCC parade. College caculty and large number of students were participated the Indiependence Day celebration with the difference.
