Milagres Cathedral Kallianpur celebrates "Parish Day" with unity and gaiety


Udupi : Milagres Cathedral of Udupi Diocese celebrated “Parish Day” on Sunday, 3rd December, 2017 with unity and gaiety.

 

The celebrations began with distributing “Memento” to all parishioners followed by thanksgiving Eucharistic mass led by Very Rev Fr. Jospeh Martis, Rector of St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangaluru with Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Rev Fr Dr. Prakash Anil Castalino, Campus Director of Milagres College and Parish priest of Sacred Heart Church, Kolalgiri, Rev Fr. Rolwin Aranha Asst Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Lancy Mascarenhas Principal of Milagres English Medium Schools and assistant parish priest, Very Rev Fr. Herald Mathias Superior of Pilar Fathers and Rev Fr. Nelson Furtado Vocational Director of Pilar Fathers.

 

In his homily Fr. Joseph Martis said that human body needs support from all parts of the body to live. Likewise, parish also needs support from all parishioners to become healthy community. The parishioners’ seek to promote the parish vision “One Family in Faith, Making Christ Known” through community building activities and promoting the programs of the parish with “Pentecost” . We are all in Pentecost that we are together. The Holy Eucharist brings parish family together, he said.

We need unity in our Church in the midst of diversity which is not so easy task and it one that will require much Prayer and preparation. But knowing that this is the will of Lord, we can walk forward with great faith and hope that He will give us many opportunities to make this unity happen, opportunities that will outweigh any obstacles that could deter it.

 

Very Rev Fr. Stany Lobo at the end placed the weekly announcements and gratitude for the smooth organized Eucharistic procession last Sunday.

 

After the mass all faithful were gathered at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall for the stage programme. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo presided over the programme. Very Rev Fr. Joseph Martis, Rector of St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangaluru was the chief guest. Entrepreneur Robert Cornelio and Entrepreneur Prashanth D’Souza in favour of brother Prakash D’Souza, Rev Fr. Rolwin Aranha, Rev Fr. Lancy Mascarenhas sj, Dr. Nery Cornelio Vice president of parish pastoral council and secretary Felciana Lewis were present on the dais.

 

 Fr. Rolwin Aranha welcomed the gatherings. The great achievers Dr. Gerald Pinto, Dr. Nery Cornelio, Educationalists and former Principals of Milagres College, Dr. Maria Pais, Doctarate,  Valentine D’Souza ACP and International Sportsman  and District level best teacher award winner Collin D’Souza were felicitated by the guests on the dais.

 

 

Some of them who felicitated Dr Gerald Pinto, Valentine D’Souza and Walter Cyril Pinto, were speaking during the occasion. Fr. Joseph Martis appreciated the unity of the parishioners on the occasion of Parish Day celebrations. Fr. Stany B. Lobo gave his presidential address and blessed the occasion. Felciana Lewis proposed vote of thanks.

 

Anil D’souza Puttur and Dr. Nisha Rebello compered the programme. Xavier Fernandes Convener of Diocesan Commissions of the parish proposed vote of thanks.  Fellowship lunch was served to all the parishioners after the programme.

 

In the evening cultural programmes and prize distribution programme was held at church hall. Various wards displayed their various programmes like skit, dancing and singing. A boy from Uppoor sang song with the guitar.

During the programme, prizes were distributed to the winners of lucky games conducted previous week. The winning Shield for the first place goes to Puttur ward, second place Shield to Edbettu Ward and third place Shield to Kallianpur B Ward. Fr. Stany handed over shields to respective winning wards.
