Tertiary Order of Milagres Cathedral celebrates feast of St Francis of Assisi


Udupi : The members of Franciscan Secular Tertiary Order (Third Order) celebrated the feast of their founder and patron St. Francis of Assisi on Sunday at 8 a.m. mass at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur by Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Rector of the Cathedral along with Rev Fr. Anil D’Costa, Capuchin, Principal of Trinity School, Parampalli.

 

In his homily Fr. Anil D’Costa pointed out the character of their founder St. Francis of Assisi who was a man of prayer, penance and peace.

Some members of the Order took oath before the altar which was conducted by Fr. Anil D’Costa and Jacintha Lewis, President of the Unit.

The Holy Eucharistic celebration was animated by the members of the Tertiary Order of Milagres Cathedral unit including the readings, choir and offerings.

During the weekly announcements, Rector of the Cathedral, Fr. Stany extended greeting of the feast to the Order on behalf of self and parish community.

After the mass, the brief get together of members of the Tertiary Order held at priest’s home meeting hall. Fr. Stany was spoke during the occasion and said that we celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi who one of the most popular Saints for Christians as well as non Christians. St Francis of Assisi has won the love and the admiration of so many generations by giving the Gospel and presenting poverty, chastity and strength of a radical loving and personal witness. He extended his greetings to all the members of the Order.

 

Earlier Jacintha Lewis welcomed the gathering and Juliet D’Silva presented the report for the year. Eugine Rebello delivered the vote of thanks as well as compered the programme. Rev Fr. Anil D’Costa, Dr. Nery Cornelio Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council and large number of Order members were present.
