Milagres College celebrates Van-Mahotsava with awareness Jatha

Udupi : N.S.S. and N.C.C wing of the Milagres College, Kallianpur along with Santhekatte Auto Rickshaw Owners and Drivers’ Association near here organized Van-Mahotsava on Saturday, 15th July, 2017.





































The occasion began with awareness procession from Milagres College Kallianpur to Auto Rickshaw stand at Santhekatte by the students of the college. A brief programme held at Santhekatte Auto Rickshaw stand which Very Rev Fr. Stany B Lobo Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions, Janardhan Tonse member of Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Shekar Baikady Hon’ble President of Auto Rickshaw Owners and Drivers Associationm Santhekatte, Jayaram President of ARODA and Dr. Vincent Alva Principal of Milagres College were present;

In his inaugural address, Janardhan Tonse said that there should be enthusiasm among us for forest conservation and planting trees. The constant filling of trees has been problem for a long time and Van-Mahotsava is important in creating awareness of the issue. Van-Matosava raises the awareness of trees among people and highlights the need for a planting and tending of trees as one of the best ways to prevent Global warming and reduce pollution. He appreciated the organizers for such programme will helps all lives of the earth.

During the occasion, Sundar Jathanna, senior member of Auto Rickshaw Association was felicitated by the Fr. Stany B. Lobo.

Shekar Baikady said that all the disadvantages of destruction of trees and forests can be balanced only with plantation of trees and adopting the process of afforestation. It is in this context that the process of afforestation is being given high priority. Besides emphasis on afforestation, new plants are also being planted every year. Large number of tress cut down due to Ettinahole project. Destruction of trees was made the forest become barren. We are already in the sense of Global warming which we experience the problems.

Very Fr. Stany B. Lobo gave his presiding address. Dr. Vincent Alva placed the gratitude to the organizers and the guests who present. Van-Mahotsava is one of the part of several awareness programmes organized in the College during the academic year.


Earlier after the invocation, Anusha welcomed the gathering. Sinduja proposed vote of thanks. Nithish compared the programme. Merwyn D’Souza, Anupama and Ravindran, Directors of the NSS and NCC were present. The volunteers of NSS and cadets of NCC and members of Auto Rickshaw Owners and Drivers Association were present.
