NSS develops among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility - Veronica Cornelio

Udupi : The National Service Schemes would develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility, and would enriches excellent programmes within the NSS and have a huge impact on moulding the personality of the students and can leverage the NSS camps experiences in their future educational endeavors’, said Veronica Cornelio former President of KSDPL, Bangalore and devoted social activist.

She was addressing after inaugural programme of National Service Scheme (NSS), Milagres College, Kallianpur at Mount Carmel School Hall, Kemmannu on Monday, 26th December, 2016, said that she was delighted to join the inaugural programme of NSS camp and shared her experiences during her College NSS camp. She said that young volunteers almost invariably become better citizens themselves, enriching their families, communities and the nation over the lifetime. The NSS students would develop competence required for group living and sharing responsibility as well.

Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Correspondent of Milagres Institutions presided over the programme. Fauizia Parveen President of Kemmannu Grama Panchayat, Sr. Mariya Asumpta Superior of the A.C. Convent, B. M. Zafer of Thonse Health Centre, Hoode, Sr. Mariya Sevika Principal of Carmel English Medium School, Kemmannu, Vijaya Mayadi former President of Rotary Kallianpur, Sulochana, Nithyananda Shetty and Gladna D’ Mello Conveners of College NSS unit and other among were present on the dais.

Sr. Mariya said that it would be the scope for the NSS students to develop their leadership qualities and students should take advantage of such camps. B. M. Zafer said that NSS is proper arrangement to provide complete packages for the development of various skills. We have much awareness, but limited arrangements. NSS would be good to implement needs of everyone.

Dr. Gerald Pinto Principal of Milagres College said that NSS helps the direction of the students. The NSS would be needed to develop leadership skills and even helpful in their studies also. The students should take advantage in such NSS schemes for their studies as well as their life career. He was grateful to all concerned for the organizing NSS camp at Kemmannu.

Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo blessed the occasion and spoke during the inaugural programme. The NSS camp will be held for seven days at Kemmannu and valedictory function to be held on Sunday, 1st January, 2017. Various programmes like academic, cultural, entertainment and other will be held during the camp days.

Earlier the programme began with NSS invocation. Srinidhi Kamath welcomed the gatherings. Prajna proposed vote of thanks and Sharmila compered the programme.
