Udupi Taluk level Sports Meet 2016/17 held at St. Joseph’s Hr. Pry. School, Kallianpur
Udupi : St. Joseph’s Higher Primary School, Kallianpur along with Udupi Zilla Panchayat Public Education Department, Area Educational Office, Brahmavara organized Udupi Taluk level sports tournament 2016/17 at Milagres College ground, Kallianpur near here on Monday, 7th November, 2016.
The sports meet inaugurated by Pramod Madhwaraj Minister of Sports, Fisheries and Youth Empowerment said that at the early age of the students need to be motivated in sports for their sports skill in lower level. The state government will chalk out various sports new policies as early as possible. Government will provide strong support for the development of the sports in the state.
Pramod Madhwaraj took guard of honor of the colourful sports children of Udupi Zone and hoisted the sport flag. Earlier the Minister was warmly received by organizers with Brass Band of Milagres English School, Kallianpur.
The stage programme began with the prayer song by St Joseph’s Higher Primary School. Sr. Susheela Montiero Headmistress of host SJHPS. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo presided over the programme. Janardhan Thonse ZP member, Puspa Kotial President of Kallianpur Grama Panchayat, Dhananjaya Taluk Panchayat member, Jerry Vincent Dias Promotor of Mandavi Builders, Udupi, Mr. Shetty of DDPI, Amruth Shenoy Entrepreneur, Baptist Dias Grama Panchayat member, Owin Rodrigues Retd. Senior Accountant, Ramesh Kotian President Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple Badanidiyoor, Walter Cyril Pinto Vice President of Milagres Cathedral Parish Pastoral Council, Smt Lilly Nazareth D’Sa past H.M. of SJHPS, Nagesh Shanbaug Educational official, Bhujanga Shetty Taluk Educational official, Sujay Poojary President of PTA, Prakash President of Old Students Association, Sharath Acharya SPL, Sulochana President of School Empowerment Committee and other among were present.
Mohith D’Silva, Karishma Sanil and Abhin Devadiga sports achievers were felicitated during the occasion. Meanwhile Siprian Crasta, Ravindra Rao and Dolwin Dias Physical directors were felicitated. Meanwhile donors for the sports meet were honoured during the occasion.
Mr Shetty DDPI spoke during the occasion on the successful inaugural programme of the sports meet. In his address one of the chief guests Amruth Shenoy Syndicate member of Mangalore University and entrepreneur said even though India developed in various fields like engineering, medical and other internationally, in the field of sports the country not developed at all. We have failed to get sufficient medals in the recent Olympic Games. At the end very few we received Olympic medals not enough. Parents, government and the teachers should support and guidance for the sport talented children in lower level.
In his presidential address Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo said that St. Joseph’s Higher Primary School has a history of 125 years and since then the school provided valuable education to thousands of students. It will be managements focus on not only in academic education but also other activities like sports and extracurricular activities. Students should take advantage in providing various facilities from the school and show their talents into success in life. He thanked all the organizers for the successful mega event of sports meet.
After the inaugural programme brilliant colourful dance performance held by the students of the school with patriotic song on the beautiful well prepared ground of Milagres College.
