Seminar on Liturgy for the Parishoners held at Tri-Centenary Hall, Milagres Kallianpur


A seminar on Liturgy was organised by the Liturgy Commission for the parishoners of Milagres Cathedral on 4th September 2016. Rev. Fr Stephen D'Souza, Director of DBCLC (Diocesan Biblical, Catechetical and Liturgical Centre) Udupi was the resource person. 115 participants were present from the 15 wards of the parish. The seminar began after the 8 am mass and offering of flowers to the infant mary as a preparation for the Nativity of our Mother. 

V. Rev. Fr Stany B. Lobo, Rector and Parish Priest of Milagres Cathedral led the prayer and inaugrated the session. Fr Stephen D'Souza continued the session in three parts. His talk was the continuation of the holmily which he preached during all the sunday masses as a preparation for the seminar. The preaching during mass involved the teaching from the Vatican II document on Liturgy "Sacrosanctum Concillium". He highlighted 10 important points related to Liturgy from one of the eight chapters of the document.

 

 

During the first session the resource person spoke on the importance of Liturgical celebration and also various aspects of Liturgy and Liturgical celebrations. The second session was carried over by Mrs Shaila Fernandes, resource person from the Diocesan Liturgical Commission. She spoke from the practical point of view reagrding the common mistakes that we make and how to make liturgy lively and active.

Finally the members were divided into 10 groups and were given three questions to discuss; the questions were; What are the common distractions or hurdles for the prayerful celebration of Liturgy in our Parish? How can we reduce them? and What kind of liturgical seminar we need in the future? After the discussion fruitful interaction was held. Fr Stephen answered the queries and gave certain guidelines for the better participation and celebration of the liturgy.

 

Mrs Eugene Rebello the Liturgical Convener of the parish thanked everyone. The Breakfast and sumptuous food  arranged was appreciated by all. All the participants were present throughout the seminar and contributed positively for its success. Rev. Fr Dr Prakash Anil Castelino reminded the gathering of the Canonization ceremony of Blessed Mother Theresa and also told about the confessions that are held in view of praparation for the feast of Nativity on 8th September and gave his concluding remarks. At 1 pm the seminar came to an end with the meals. Everyone present appreciated the fruitful input sessions and promised their co operation in conducting such useful seminars in the future.
