SP Annamalai graces the awareness Programme on Road Traffic and crime control at Milagres, Kallianpur


Udupi : Department of Police, Udupi District and Milagres College, Kallianpur near here jointly organized Awareness programme on Road Traffic regulations and crime control at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall, Kallianpur on Thursday, 3rdSeptember, 2015.

Annamalai K., IPS.,  District Superintendent of Police was the resource person of the value able brief workshop. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions blessed and presided the occasion. Dr. Nery Cornelio Principal of Milagres college, Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves Principal of Milagres Pre University College and Chandrashekar DySP of Udupi were present on the dais.

Annamalai gave statistics on fatal accidents in the state and the district. He said China leading first in fatal accidents while followed by India with second country in 2014 which stands 60 fatal accidents per day specially youths will be the concern for us. In order to give awareness the district police to organize such programmes for the college students in particular in the month of September.

From October license for the students made compulsory  and strictly vehicles check up has been done from October. If there do not have license and necessary records including insurance of the vehicles will be seized and fined for their parents as well. If the students have license and required documents then sticker will be passed and later not inspection will be held.

From October helmets for two wheelers made compulsory for the students. These all needed in order to control the fatal accidents specially youths and the district all concerned about the accidents. He want to control the fatal accidents and expecting the first district to be accident free. So he supports to have some life saving methods.

Later he interacted with the students with various problems in relation to the traffic regulations. Earlier Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves welcomed the gatherings and Prof. Melwyn Rego proposed vote of thanks. Prof. Joseph Fernandes compered the programme. Around 1,300 students of Milagres PU & degree college were participated with grand success. District Traffic Police in charge Madhu  and other police officials were present.
