The Catechism Day at Milagres Cathedral in a unique way by visiting Shrines

Udupi : The Catechism day at Our lady of Miracles Church, Kallianpur was celebrated in a unique way by visit of the Old-age and home for the destitute and having a pilgrimage to the Shrines. On 15th of February 2015 all the catechism children along with the teachers visited the Shrines of St John Paul II at Bajpe, St Joseph Vaz shrine at Mudipu, Infant Jesus Shrine Bikarnakatte and St Lawrence shrine attur. They also visited Prashanth Nivas home for the elderly, depressed, destitute n mentally challanged.

All the arrangements were done maticulously by the co-ordinator of the Sunday Catechism Mrs Eugine Rebello. There were a total of 130 including 20 Sunday Catechism teachers. Having visited the St John Paull II shrine at Bajpe we had gone to Prashanth Nivas. It was indeed a special and unique experirnce with the inmates there. Their struggles and difficulties touched the hearts of the children and made them realize there is also a different phase of life  beyond the comforts of the four walls in the house.

The celebration of the Holy Eucharist was at St Joseph Vaz shrine Mudipu. The Parish Priest V. Rev Stany B Lobo presided over the Mass. Rev. Fr Gregory D’Souza incharge of the shrine briefed about the importance of the place during the homily. Rev Fr Rollwin Aranha was also present. Children participated meaningfully in the catechism day Liturgy. Mass ended with special prayers and anointing with the Holy Oil.

Children and the teachers appreciated the arrangements done for the breakfast and the lunch at Christian Brothers compound Bajpe and St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore respectively. Overall it was a indeed a unique and special occasion to enhace the Spiritual deapth and to become face to face with the harsh realities of Life and to sympathize with them. We thank Br Hector Pinto and the community of Christian Brothers, Rev. Sr Superior and Community Prashanth Nivas Jeppu, Rev. Fr Gregory D’Souza in charge of the shrine Mudipu, Rev.
