Christmas - 2014


Udupi : The grand celebration of Christmas at Milagres Cathedral of Udupi diocese held with solemnity and gaiety. Prior to the Eucharistic celebration carol singing started from 7.30 pm on Thursday, 24th December, 2014. Since hundreds of years  the Christmas eve mass was celebrated during the midnight at Milagres which this time cancelled and held as early as 7.30pm.

At 8pm the solemn high mass concelebrated in Milagres Cathedral by Bishop of the diocese, His Lordship Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo with Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Rector of the Cathedral, Rev Fr. Rolwin Aranha Asst Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Denis Lobo Vocational Director of Pilar Fathers and  Rev Fr. Mahesh D’Souza Principal of Milagres Eng. Schools.

During in his homily Fr. Mahesh D’souza said that God became man and Jesus called us to opt human ways. As Jesus felt with others  who are in needs. He further said that the real the joy of Christmas lies in discovering the Saviour  who comes to give so much : life to the full body and soul, Pardon of all our faults and failings if only we are willing to ask and hope in our darkest moments.

One of the best choir group in diocese sang excellent hymns during the celebration of grand Eucharistic mass. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo conveyed the Christmas greetings to all. He thanked the Bishop and other clergy for the celebrations.

During  his Christmas message Bishop said that God came to the world as human and tried people to become the way of God. Jesus brought peace and love which should make that message amongst us.

 

Soon after the mass ICYM of the church unit organized auction of beautiful cake which enthusiastic bidding ended with Rs. 17,000 by Gilbert D’Souza.
