Roy Castalino President of State Konkani Academy felicitated at Kallianpur
Udupi : Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President honoured and felicitated by Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo, Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Diocese of Udupi on Sunday, 19thOctober, 2014 at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall, Kallianpur.
The felicitation ceremony held prior to the show of “Platform No. 3” Konkani play during the stage program organized by Milagres Cathedral Cultural Committee along with ICYM, Milagres Unit. During the occasion Very Rev Fr. Stany b. Lobo presided and welcomed the gatherings. Present on the dais were Roy Castalino President of Karnataka State Konkani Sahitya Academy, Rev Fr. Rollwin Aranha Asst. Parish Preist of Milagres Cathedral, Rev Fr. Mahesh D’Souza Principal of Milagres English Schools, Kiran Elroy Crasto President of Cathlic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, Walter Cyril Pinto Vice President of Milagres Parish Pastoral Council, Henry D’souza Convener of Cultural Committee, Kamalaksha Shet, A. P. S. Kini, Dr Rafiq, Vasanth Nayak, Arun Raj, Christopher D’Souza and others were present on the dais.
Roy Castalino after the felicitation in his long speech said that the Karnataka Konkani Academy is striving hard to promote, propagate and enrich the Konkani language and culture. Konkani language is one of the 22 scheduled languages mentioned in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. The Konkani language is spoken widely in the western coastal region of India known also as Konkan. Most of the organizations working for Konkani but primarily were restricted to individual communities.
During the occasion Arunraj and Chrishoper were also felicitated.Prizes were distributed for winners of Elocution competition conducted by Catholic Sabha Milagres Unit. Rhea D’Souza proposed vote of thanks while Prajoth D’Sa compered the program.
Milagres Cathedral Cultural Committee and ICYM Milagres unit jointly organized with Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy a successful Konkani play “Platform No. 3” after the stage program. The beautiful play which produced by Arunraj Rodrigues and directed by Christopher D’souza. Unexpected large crowd from parishioners as well as others enjoyed the play with laughter and enjoyment.
