Milagres Cathedral celebrated Monthi Fest with Enthusiasm & Devotion
Udupi : The Parishioners of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur near here celebrated the feast of Nativity, the Monthi Fest, the festival of new harvest with enthusiasm and devotion. Earlier in the morning at 8.30 am large number of faithful gathered at the main gate of the church campus near to Milagres High School. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Rector of the Cathedral was blessed the fresh paddy corn and later large number of children offered beautiful flowers with popular hymn song “Sakkad Sangatha Melyam”.
All the faithful marched towards Cathedral carrying Bambina of Infant Mary and carrying blessed new Paddy rice corn by the gurkars. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo along with Rev Fr. Rollwin Aranha celebrated Solemn High Mass of the Monthi Fest. During in his homily Fr. Rollwin Aranha said the Virgin Mother Mary the sign of salvation. Mother Mary loves us and cares us. She is the Mother of all mothers. As motherly figure, Mother Mary exemplifies strength of goodliness, strength and maternal instinct. Those who need the fruit should go near the tree like those who need the love should go to Mother Mary.
After the announcements by the parish Priest Fr. Stany Lobo honored John D’Souza, one of the son of late Lazarus D’Souza and late Margaret D’Souza with the decorated candle for the sponsorship of the feast. Meanwhile merit scholarships were distributed and Catholic Sabha organized “Prathiba Purashkar” distributed to topers in Milagres Institutions students which sponsored by late Lazarus & Margaret D’Souza’s sons.
Later get together of Parish Pastoral Council members, choir group, ICYM, YCS and other well wishers held at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall. Sugarcane distributed to all the children and other participants for the mass. Sweets also distributed by ICYM members.
