Two days State level Seminar on Kannada Literature inaugurated at Milagres College
Udupi : UGC sponsored two days State level Seminar with dialogue on the 21st century Kannada Literature – Questions and Possibilities at Milagres College, Kallianpur near here was inaugurated by Prof. Shrikantha Koodige Retired Professor and Literature Thinker from Shivmuga. The seminar has organized by Department of Kannada of Milagres College with the cooperation of Kannada Sahitya Parishattu, Udupi District unit.
During in his inaugural address Prof Shrikantha Koodige gave gratitude to Milagres College Management that it has great asset to Kannadanadu which developing Kannada Literature from its premises. He said that literate people also have indulged in communal disharmony of the nation, so that their literacy have no meaning and sense.
He further said that Kannada Literature to be developed along with the development of information and technology as well. Along with the development of the science and technology there are questions arises in regard to the development of Kannada literature also. He called to change the method of teaching and the education system in order to develop literatures.
The inaugural of two days interaction seminar was presided by Dr. Nery Cornelio Principal of Milagres College. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Correspondent of Milagres Institutions blessed the occasion. Sri Nilavara Surendra Adiga President of Kannada Sahitya Parishattu Udupi Unit was the chief guest. Former retired Professor of Kannada Department of the College Prof. Mahalaxmi and Convener of the Seminar Prof. Narayana M. Hegde HOD of Kannada department were others present on the dais.
The inaugural program started with one minute silence prayer to give respect for deceased Kannada Literature former head late Dr. U. R. Ananthamoorthy and invocation prayer song by students of Milagres College. Prof. Narayana M. Hegde welcomed the gatherings and gave keynote address.
Kannada Sahitya Parishet Udupi District unit President Nilavara Surendra Adiga released the “Saralekagala Sangraha” book during the occasion. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo and Nilavara Surendra Adiga spoke during the occasion.
Dr. Nery Cornelio gave his presidential address. Amparu Nithyananda Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Co-Convener Harinakshi M.D. and Prathapchandra were compeered the inaugural program. There will be around 26 papers to presented during the seminar and various interactions on the various subjects in relate to Kannada literature to be held in state level interaction seminar.
