Milagres Cathedral Celebrated Catechism Day
Kallianpur : Catechism Day of the Milagres Cathedral celebrated on Sunday, 23rd March, 2014. Rev Fr. Nelson Furtado Vocational Director of Pilar Fathers was the chief celebrant along with Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo during the 9.30am mass. Catechism students conducted the beautiful liturgy of the mass while Fr. Nelson Furtado gave homily during the mass.
After the mass get together of catechism students as well as teachers and parents held at Milagres Sauharda Bhavan hall. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo chaired the gatherings. Rev Fr. Nelson Furtado, Rev Fr. Mahesh D’Souza Asst. Parish Priest, Smt. Hilda Rodrigues Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council and Smt. Eugene Rebello Convener of Catechism Classes were present on the dais.
Prior to the introduction talk by Eugene Rebello, invocation prayer dance held by the students. During his chief guest address Rev Fr. Nelson Furtado said that Catechism is the pillar of faithful life. He pointed out some of the importance to succeed the faithful life due to study of catechism. Meanwhile he further said that it will be call given by God to teach Catechism for the students.
Prizes were distributed to highest marks secured students as well as daily attendees of the Catechism classes throughout the year. Ignatious Flavia Menezes of the Milagres A ward was honoured for sponsorship of the lunch meal to all participants while Mrs Jochim D’Souza of Santhekatte A ward honoured for sponsorship of various prizes.
Mrs. Hilda Rodrigues during her brief address said that teaching catechism is the mission to give light of the faith and so we can see Our Lord Jesus in our life. Fr. Stany Lobo gave his presiding address that how can we become good in our faithful life and succeed in our life. He thankful to catechism teachers for their selfless service and also gave gratitude to sponsors for their contribution to celebrate Catechism Day. Meanwhile all the catechism teachers were remembered with token of prizes for their services.
Earlier Dayl D’Souza welcomed the gatherings and Adlin Fernandes proposed vote of thanks. Janice D’Souza compered the programme beautifully. Dances, skit and devotional songs were held during the occasion. Lunch was served to all the participants during the "Catechism Day" celebrations
