Milagres Cathedral in preparation for Annual Feast observed Vespers
Kallianpur : Milagres Cathedral in preparation for the Annual Feast observed Vespers (Besp) here on Tuesday, 21stJanuary, 2014 with much devotion. The evening prayers were held with rosary conducted by Fredrick Sequiera. The chief celebrant of the Vespers was Rev Fr. Sunil D’Silva Vicar of Pethri Church.
At the outset, at around 6.45 pm the main celebrant along with altar servers, priests and parishioners went in procession accompanied by the brass band. The highest donours for the celebrations of Annul Feast Nelson Farais, Marina D’Souza & Reyon Lewis carried the Cherel of decorated statue of Our Lady of Miracles. All the processionists were given candles which they lit and stood in reverence as Rev. Fr. Sunil D’Silva after invocation blessed the Cherel with the statue of Our Lady if Miracles.
Thereafter, priests and people came back to the church in procession through the main road entering the church premises through the main entrance. The Liturgy of word began thereafter with beautiful hymns. During his homily Fr. Sunil D’Silva pointed out the Faith through Virgin Mary with us. The compared the catechism earlier days with now modern era. Faith of God now a day’s highly diminished. It will be need of the hour to keep faith with God and Our Lady of Virgin Mary. The adoration of the Holy Sacrament after the prayer of faithful held. Rev. Fr. Sunil D’Silva led the adoration prayers.
Large number of priest including Rev Fr. George Lewis of Thonse origin now serving for Mahe, Calicut Diocese who celebrating Annual Feast ever, Rev Fr. Alwyn D’Souza Dean of Kundapur Deanery, Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca Parish Priest of Barkur and Chancellor of Udupi Diocese, Priest of parishioners, guests and except Kemmannu priests of the deanery of Kallianpur were attending the Vespers.
Following the adoration and Sacramental Blessing, the parishioners dispersed and gathered in the premises to witness the fireworks. Earlier, this reporter had an opportunity to explore the fair. By the evening all the slots for stalls had been occupied and varieties of articles and eatable were displayed in these stalls. There are stalls selling religious articles, sweetmeat shops with different kinds of sweets, flower stalls, stalls selling toys and other assorted articles were found to extend from the church premises. ICYM & YCS members were busy with their as usual stall and held housie houise game at the end. Malpe police under the leadership of Inspector Jayant maintained security of heavy crowd during the vespers.
