St. Sebastian - Uppoor Ward Fest Celebrated


Kallianpur : The ward members of Uppoor ‘A’ ward of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur had celebrated their Patron’s day in honour of St. Sebastian. They gave thanks to the Almighty God celebrating the thanksgiving mass on Saturday, 2nd November at 4:30 pm. They offered worship to their Patron saint St. Sebastian to seek his blessings.

 

The following day, Sunday, 3rd November the ward members gathered for a get together at the Ward Guardian Mrs. Gloria Vincent Lewis’ house around 12 noon. The parish priest Rev. Fr. Stany Lobo, the Milagres PU principal Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Parish President Mr. Lesly Lewis graced the occasion with their presence.

 

The program commenced by a welcome prayer dance by children, Rachael and Stacey. Then the newly installed statue of the ward was blessed and inaugurated by the parish priest accompanied by a small prayer.

 

This was followed by a group dance by the children of the ward. A brief summary on ‘The life of Saint Sebastian and his blessing on the Ward’ was presented by Mr. Alphonse D’Silva.  Thereafter a report of the ward activities and the brief history of the ward were presented by Mrs. Junitha D’Souza.

 

A group song in sighting the ‘Unity of the Ward’ was sung by the ladies of the ward. A variety  entertainment programme ‘Lungi Dance’ was performed by Mr. Rohith Rodrigues which was appreciated by all. Thereafter a skit based on Small Christian Community was played by Mr. Pius Lewis and Mrs. Delphin Lewis. Afterwards a song ‘ Mavadazo Zavai’ was sung by Mrs. Lily D’Souza.

 

 

 

Fun games were organized by Mrs. Veena Rodrigues. ‘Blowing of the balloons’ for children, ‘Emptying Soft drinks from straws with holes ‘for adults, spot games and Housie- Housie  up all on their toes. The prizes were distributed to the winners by the Parish priest.

 

The parish priest addressed the gathering appreciating the work in the ward and the faith of the ward members and hence emphasising the importance of prayer and unity among the members of the ward. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves delivered his message highlighting the life of St. Sebastian and stressed upon the need of a routine prayer among the ward members. He congratulated the ward members on the support and the cooperation.

 

The lunch was prepared by the ward members, which was then blessed by the parish priest invoking the blessing of St. Sebastian and the Our Lady of Miracles.

 

The vote of thanks was proposed by  Mrs. Anita D’Silva thanking the contributions for the success of the programme hence inviting the support and cooperation for the future activities of the ward.

The program was compered by Mrs. Olivia Lewis. The programme was concluded by a hymn seeking the blessing of Mother Mary.
